The Best Movie Trilogy of All Time

May the 4th be with you! Happy Star Wars Day to all who celebrate.

Because it is May the 4th, I couldn't not write about Star Wars. I am a huge Star Wars fan. I've seen every movie many times (Except for The Last Jedi, that movie is hot garbage). I've seen the prequels and original movies more than I dare admit. They are great movies, and in some opinions, the original movies are the greatest trilogy of all time.

As much as I really love those three original Star Wars movies, I do not believe they are the greatest trilogy of all time. That honor has to belong to The Lord of the Rings trilogy. That is another set of movies I've seen more times than I care to admit. I've even watched the extended additions plus their 12 hours of bonus features.

So the question is, who is right? Is Star Wars or The Lord of the Rings the better trilogy? I mean... it depends. It comes down to personal taste, when you were born, preference between sci-fi and fantasy, and whether you wanted to be an elf or a Jedi. The answer to the question is subjective. As strongly as you or I may feel about our opinions, there is no objective answer.

Objective truths are where the reality of something is found in the object itself, not the subject. 2+2=4 is an objective truth, and your opinion about mathematics will not change that truth. "The Sun is bright" is an objective truth. Your opinion about its brightness will not stop your retinas from being burnt out if you stare at it during an eclipse.

Tomorrow we are going to explore the nature of good. Is morality subjective, like the debate between Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings? Or is morality objective, like 2+2=4? Do we make it all up? Are we all just animals acting according to instinct? Or do we have real moral obligations?

We will ask, "Is it true that I can't be Good Without God?

Then we will take communion together and celebrate another baptism! I hope you will join us for worship tomorrow.
